UserAgent string is back

We are grad to announce that the User Agent string is back.
We fixed the problem of recording User Agent string in our forums.
UserAgent string is one of the unique feature of SillyDog701 Message Centre.

Currently, we run into trouble of having UserAgent string not being recorded by our forum software.
We are working on this issue, and will get it back as soon as possible.

Microsoft pays $20 million for Lindows.com

Microsoft has settled down with Lindows (now called Linspire).

The exact terms of the settlement remain confidential, but a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing revealed that Microsoft paid twenty million USD for the Lindows domain.

SillyDog701 members might recall that Microsoft demanded the domain name MikeRoweSoft.com from a 17-year-old boy called Mike Rowe. Microsoft's lawyers, of course, wrote Mike Rowe strong worded letters demanding the handing over of the domain name. Microsoft said, "MikeRoweSoft.com" is theirs.
Microsoft was later apologised for their actions against Mike Rowe, after very bad publicity the issue generated.

Lindows is a Linux based operating system that aims to run Windows application smoothly.

URL shortening service disabled in forums

SillyDog701 has now disabled URL shortening links from our Message Centre. This is done to protect SillyDog701 members' security. SillyDog701 does not see any good reason to hide the actual URL.

4 million hits for the second time

For the second time in history, SillyDog701's website has more than 4 million hits per month (May 2004 and June 2004). The traffic data does not consist traffic from MozInfo701. It is also interested to note that the percentage of MSIE have decreased.
