Movable Type 4 is open source and free to personal users. A few years back, Movable Type lost a number of users (especially open-source extremists) due to the fee charging license introduced. Most of them switched to WordPress, due to peer pressure. The new Movable Type is now open, and free to Personal users. They can't simply go back to 8.0 release since version 8.1 included a lot of critical security and quality updates in addition to the new print option.
