Enabling JavaScript in Your Browser

If you are using Netscape Communicator/Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer and reached this page, JavaScript may be turned off on your browser. To enable JavaScript, please follow the instructions below for your browser type. (If you are interested in which JavaScript version supported in Netscape, please click here.)

We recommend you enable JavaScript for your surfing (Navigator) but disable JavaScript for Mail/News.

Netscape 7: Select Preferences... from the Edit menu. Click on the Advanced section and then select Scripts and Windows sub-section. Under Enable JavaScript for... click the check box beside Navigator. We recommend not to enable JavaScript for Mail/News.
If you want to disable Java (Applet) as well, the option is under Edit |Preferences | Advanced.

Netscape 6: Select Preferences... from the Edit menu. Click on the Advanced section and then click the check box beside Enable JavaScript for Navigator. When the check box is selected, JavaScript will work.

Netscape Communicator 4+ (Navigator 4): Select Preferences... from the Edit menu. Click on the Advanced section and then click the check box beside Enable JavaScript. When the check box is selected, JavaScript will work.

Netscape Navigator 3: Go to the Options menu and open Network Preferences. Click the Languages tab and then click the check box beside Enable JavaScript. When the check box is selected, JavaScript will work.

Netscape Navigator 2: Go to the Options menu and open Security Preferences. Click the General tab and make sure the check box next to "Disable JavaScript" is not selected. (Please note, Netscape 2 supports very basic level of JavaScript, using latest version of Netscape recommended.)

Microsoft Internet Explorer 3/4/5: Go to the View menu and open Options. Click the Security tab and then click the check box beside "Run ActiveX scripts" near the bottom of the tab. When the check box is selected, JavaScript will work.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 2: No JavaScript is supported, please download latest Netscape browser.

Now click the back button then Reload/Refresh on your browser and get ready to enjoy the benefits of JavaScript and dynamic HTML! You might need to press Shift key while click Reload/Refresh button.

How safe is JavaScript?

Well, it is very safe, because the most of JavaScript runs in client side, it provides great interactive between you and the browser. Only very few sites uses Sever-Side JavaScript, which requires Netscape's Server. Server-Side JavaScript may pass some information back to server, however only very limited data can be transferred. I would not think the privacy and security issue is a problem in JavaScript once you are using the latest version of the browser.
It is recommended that you disable JavaScript for your e-mail, but enable JavaScript for your general browsing.

If you are not using a JavaScript-capable browser yet, please download Netscape now.
