PCWorld.com writer Steve Bass lists his grudges against MS Internet Explorer in his
latest article and writes up a list of features he'd like to see in his ultimate browser.

Biggest gripes and most wished-for browser features.

There's no doubt: Microsoft's Internet Explorer is a dinosaur. It's big
and heavy, plods around with no smarts, and--with so many better
options around--destined to be extinct. (At least on my machine)

So it's time for--dare I say it?--an upgrade.

Sure, I know: I'm the guy always kvetching about needless
upgrades (Office and Word are prime examples). But I must
have tried a dozen Internet Explorer substitutes, most free
and a few low-cost. I've found browsers that are bright, fast,
and loaded with truly useful, productivity-increasing features.

In this week's newsletter, I'll explain what I don't like
about Internet Explorer and tell you the features I
need in a browser. Next week I'll describe about
a dozen browser alternatives, including two
freebies and fee-based programs I think
are the best of the bunch.

The full article is available here . . .

He didn't mentioned the many insecurities in IE, or what browser he's replaced IE with,
but I suppose we'll just have to wait to find out what he has to say in his next article.

Hi,
I love Internet Explorer too much to dump it.
There is nothing wrong with it.

This pathetic web browser is just a huge security hole. In XP SP2, with the security improvements, it blocked Javascript on a website that was used to change the background dynamically, this code was 'malicious' according to IE!

I'll stick with my firefox, but you have to rember IE was here before all of the Mozilla browsers so you have to give it some credit.

That's not strictly true, since Netscape Navigator first came out back in 1994 and it's
development codename was "Mozilla". The first IE didn't actually appear until 1995.

"Mozilla" was not just the codename for Netscape, but also it's official mascot.

:ns: "Netscape History" on Holger Metzger's site.
:ie: "Internet Explorer History" on Microsoft.com.

legacy ie does not bother me but ie 6 is too intergrated with the operating system and when it crashes it causes more problems.
