(Windows 98) booting - automatically goes to Startup Menu ??

Postby malcolm33 » Sun 23 Mar, 2003 2:17 pm

After some hardware changes and adding RAM, my Athlon 850 with Win 98 and 256MB RAM, when booting up, automatically goes to the Startup Menu, and forces me to select "normal" to get into Windows. I believe it may have something to do with a registry "system" problem, or ? Of course, I want it to go directly into Windows. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks (I'm a newbie to this forum, hope I'm doing it right)

Oh, something I forgot to add about my system...

....it's an owner-built rig with a Gigabyte mobo, Athlon K7-850 Slot A CPU, AMD 750 chipset, American Megatrends BIOS (08/01/2000), and it's in a desktop ATX tower box. The os is MS Windows 98 SE.
Thanks

I don't know how hardware changes could cause that, but I think TweakUI will fix it. It's a Control Panel tool that lets you tweak the UI :P There's a tab labeled "Boot", with an option to "Always show boot menu", and unchecking that box should do it.
Get it at http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/tweakui
