4.7 vs 7.0

Postby Actorguy » Mon 21 Jun, 2004 4:21 am

I have been building web pages with 4.7 for some time now.

I just got xp and 7.0 and when I go to publish, the page in 7.0 is not the same as 4.7 and I cannot get it to publish?

4.7 has Page Title
HTML Filename
User Name
Password

7.0 is not the same and I'm not sure where to put what???

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry that I can't help you because I have not tried web pages since NS4.5.
There is a lot of difference between 4.x and 7.x, and you will not be able to use the same format in 7.0. I suggest that you take a look at 7.0 Composer, and Help|Help Contents.

4.7 vs 7.0

Postby Giggliden » Fri 09 Jul, 2004 9:04 am

I TRIED NS 7.0 ... because a number of websites seem to insist on it ... 4.7 just won't work .. it gets hung up. IN desperation, I've even gone to IE, rather than hassling with 7.0, which seems very fussy, but NOT as simple to use as the older version.

Do YOU have an answer to this annoying problem with 4.7 ...

".... illegal operation, NS will be closed down." There is NO escape from this sudden doom, which seems to come out of left field, with NO explanation as to why. That alpabet soup in "details" leaves me hopelessly confused.

When I figure OUT how to install my mail.addresses.com and which one goes where, I may try 7.0 again. I've already ripped it OUT three times.

I never going past the first line of an error, but the way you present it, I can't help. There is always an application doing something in module ....
That can tell you something.
As for 7.0, it is way obsolete, by now, by it will do with win98.
The problem with the later programs is that they are made for people with multiple mail accounts( and ISP). I am set up with at least six ISPs.
So, if one looks at the 7.x preferences, from the browser, he will not see anything general and common settings. If you click on the mail , which has been moved to the left, or Windows|Mail., then you may be prompted to set up and account, or you can do it yourself from Edit|Mail and News.
As for what you wanted to set up, I have no idea what it is. There is an addresses.com website, which has a mail verification, but I do not see is as an ISP. However, if you had it set up in 4.x, you should be able to do it in 7.x
