Postby robert » Thu 24 Jun, 2004 9:52 pm

Whassup? I can use explorer without a problem. I think ebay killed my last computer. I can use other websites ok, but ebay chokes the computer. Thanks in advance. Also I sometimes get a 'ntoskrnl.exe' windows file corrupted message.

I can not address the issues in Netscape 4.8. Netscape 4.8 is old enough to be an obsolete browser, although many still like its E-mail component.

Try moving up to a modern browser that is consistent with your computer's specifications. Try using Netscape 7.1 or Mozilla 1.7 Final which may be able to browse e-bay without a serious problem, although I believe that I have read about some people having problems with those browsers at e-bay. You should not uninstall Netscape 4.8, and Netscape 7.1 or Mozilla 1.7 will import your Netscape 4.8 data. Also note that Netscape 7.2, based on Mozilla 1.7, has been promised to appear soon.

I have noticed this happen in old browsers such as versions 4.x of Netscape, IE, etc... But, if you try to tell my high school to get something newer than Navigator 4.08, they say that what we need on the web is "perfectly supported" by it. I do have a question for Wellander: You have been using old browsers for a while now, do you have any idea how to make Navigator 4.08 run with a bit more compatibility?

I wonder too, if it is nostalgia or something else.
But, I know that older browsers will fail with new language, like .Xml.
The new Netscapes came with this in mind. Even the aborted Netscape could not be build in a way that it would be compatible.
