PErsonally I'd just build a new computer.

I could go out now and build a new Quadcore with 2GB of RAM and 320GB of HDD space for $539AUD.

Taking Your Advice

Postby Angie » Thu 12 Jun, 2008 12:10 pm

I'm taking all of your advice and just getting a new computer. This one sometimes lasts five minutes before locking up and sometimes it makes it a half an hour. The garbled and odd color patches still come up on the screen here and there so I'm convinced my video card is going.
Not knowing as much about computers as you guys do (I am in awe) I have found someone who redoes and builds computers. He also said he could upgrade this one and make it a good second computer with more RAM and Windows XP for about $60.00.
I would love to learn to do this stuff myself, I'm sure I'd enjoy it, but because I need a computer fast, I'll let him do it. Seems like a reliable guy.
I'm wondering, someone had a year and a half Gateway for sale for $200.00. How have Gateway computers been doing the past couple of years. This one came from a university who changes out their computers every year and a half to two years. I know they were not a popular company for quite awhile, but have heard they got better.

Gateway computers are good, eMachine which is made by Gateway is almost the same thing.
The only things i have always have too replace allot is Power supplys and The front power button.
Gateways & eMachines have weak power supplys , But other than that they are good.
