Oh great . . . s'pose this means I've gotta rebuild me flamin' distros, less
than a month after I finalized the existing 7.0 builds! Why can't Netscape
just release patches in XPI format for these incremental updates, instead
of expecting users to go download the entire browser suite again? Crazy!

Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

If this means we could upgrade/update N7 in a few minutes with no hassles.......
sounds like a GREAT IDEA.
Would be worth a few bucks for time and Tylenol saved. Are you listening Anthony?

There were speculations that it was based on Mozilla 1.02, whatever that is.
Supposedly some minor fixes. And, I am with you there. There should be patches in such cases.

Fulvio: I believe Mozilla 1.02 is the Mozilla 1.0 source-code, but with all the secuirty patches in the later 1.1 and 1.2 beta builds included - Making it the most stable Mozilla build ;)

Hi Folks,

Does anyone know/assume/guess which Java version will be included in N7.01?

Just though I'd add that the latest roadmap gives Dec. 11 as an estimated 1.0.2 release date...

Seems I can already fetch 7.01 for Linux.

It does not ship with any version of Java.

I have posted the useragent in the testing thread.

Reported alternate link for downloading Netscape 7.01 (from the Netscape7 news group). I can not vouch for its reliability, although I did download NSSetupB.exe from the link. I did not install it.

http://ftp26c.newaol.com/pub/netscape7/ ... SetupB.exe

(Edit Note: Right at this moment (1:20 AM, 11/27/02, EST) both this link and the one at the top give a "forbidden" message. Go figure?)

I don't know about the Windows version, but the Linux version did work.

Anyone for popup blocking?

So, it appears that Netscape 7.01 has finally implemented some form of
pop-up blocking. About time, although it should have been implemented
in their 7.0 release. S'pose this makes "adblocker.xpi" redundant then?

Did any of you note the plea from Jay Garcia to Register when you install the 7.01 upgrade?
Netscape NEEDS your help!!

In order for Netscape to survive, it needs "numbers". Those "numbers"
are counted by the number of "registrations" entered when first
installing the application. In other words, how many users download and
register the product is the determining factor when AOL management
audits usage.

Many users are "put off" by this registration process and look for ways
to circumvent this function which is understandable to a degree. Please
do NOT get around it, REGISTER. "Bite The Bullet" !!

Thanks

BTW: When installing 7.01 you will be requested to "register" again.
Annoying, yes, I know .. But PLEASE, do NS a huge favor, it only takes a
minute.
