7.1 Streamline Group List Addresses Problems

Postby jscott » Sat 10 Jul, 2004 3:40 am

I read this exact problem on a previous post, but no answer/solution was given.

In my Address Book, if I add or change an individual E-Mail address by Drag & Drop from any list, I then corrupt most of the addresses.
they reappear as LAST NAME ONLY.

This can be for the very slighest change.

If I highlight & go to properties to add or correct an individual name, then I cannot get the windown to close.

This has happened on my last three downloads of Silly Dog 7.1 Streamline & Full version from Netscape.

If I create a list, it is good until changed.

This is getting tiring.

I would be more than tired if this would happen. I has never happened to me, and I do this the drag and drop in a lot of gecko-based programs.
I guess that by using all the programs, with their own profile, I have a bunch of built-in backups. There are so many question which I could come up with, like how did you get the present Address Book, and think about the one before.
Have you tried to use any other way to get your addresses. Drag and drop, does nothing more than Copy and Paste, leaving the address in the original folder. I wish I understood what is going on, but everyone does things differently.

jscott,

Please see:

Addressbook Lists

The Addressbook in Mozilla based browsers is based on the Mork Database.
This is one of the "weak" features of NS/MOZ- (MHO).
It is very strict about how things are done. Do things the "wrong" way and you get results that are different than what you expected.

Lists in particular are very touchy.

When working with "lists" - the way to minimize the possibility of things going wrong is to ONLY use the Drag & drop method.

i.e. ONLY add names from an existing book via Drag & Drop. DO NOT try to enter data directly via the properties window.
The link will give you more detail as to how I think things work.

Sorry that I can not give you a definitive solution to you particular problem.
