abook.mab corrupt

Postby Strobe » Fri 10 Oct, 2003 2:41 am

Hi again...
I just upgraded to NS7.1 and when I open Mail, it says that abook.mab and other mab files are corrupt.
How can i fix this? They worked fine previously. I can still view the files perfectly well in Notepad...

They worked previously, but where did they come from?

I was not using this computer for some time, and i copied my mail folder onto a cd before i stopped using it so i could check my email on another machine.
I copied the mail to another machine and created a new profile and got taht all working well...
When it came to using this machine again, i now had two versions of my profile. Before i even ran NS on this again, I installed 7.1. Then i created a new profile and put the mail folder from the other comp i was using in, and the profile info, etc. from the old profile on this comp. Including the abook and other MAB files.
Didnt really have a problem with getting the email to work again, but the address book just wont load...
Hope you can understand this.

When you copied the files to the CD, it's possible that either the CD did not burn correctly, or you had a bad disc, resulting in the good file becoming corrupt when it copied to the CD.

I still have the problem.
Anyone got any tips or guides to importing Address books?

The only reasonable way to "import" an address book, is to export it, from the Address Book, as a .ldif file. When I said, where do the files come from, I should have been specified, in which version were they?
There is a bunch of Address Book information here: http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/index6.html#7mailab
