Active X controls

Postby Angie » Mon 23 Jun, 2008 5:53 pm

I've finally purchased a new computer. Went with a Dell desktop and like it with a few exceptions.
We downloaded the free 30 day Norton trial and have since had all the pictures come up with little red X's in a box instead of getting the picture. I have a feeling this has something to do with Norton.
I'll not be using Norton after the 30 days are up. I believe AVG and Super Anti-Spyware are all I should need and they are free.
Buy what is the deal the little red X's? I've know several who have the same problem.

Congratulations on getting a new machine!

I see that you are using IE 7.
Do a Google search for picture "red x" (with the double-quotes).
You'll get hits that will help you with IE settings and possibly AV settings.

(Your 'Active X' title probably is incorrect, as Active X Controls pertain to code execution. Do a search for "active x controls". A pure graphic (picture) does not contain executable code.)

If you did not get an answer, already, try this.
AVG, or Avast, and any of a few other antivirus programs will do. An anti-spyware is optional, but a Firewall is not. I am using Sygate, which is free, though not updated in a while.

There are alleged difficulties with AVG if you bought Vista. I have Avast on Vista and it is fine.

Angie seems to be using WinXP, so, there should be no problem.

I wonder why I did not get a link with my previous post? Too many =?

There appears to be a line break (CR-LF) between the url= string closing bracket and the "this". Did you compose the post 'right here', or did you compose it elsewhere and copy/paste it here?

I fixed your BBCode for you. You just had too many spaces. :)
