Address Bar is only a search Bar

Postby Sunshine » Wed 08 Sep, 2004 4:34 pm

I had Opera before Netscape and I uninstalled it because the address bar was nothing but a search bar. Every time I typed an URL into the address bar, it sent me to a search page. I would like to install again, but if the address bar does not support an URL , then I sure don't want it , because a "real" browser will be able to take you to an address that is typed into the address bar. Please tell me if this is available in Opera. Maybe I did not have something set right. Can someone please tell me?

Thanks

Can someone please respond to my above post ? Can you type an address into the address bar in Opera and go to that address ? or did I not have it set up correctly to do this.

Thanks

Of course you can type an address in the address bar in Opera and go to that address.

Opera comes pre-configured with some additional search fields, so maybe you've been confused by these. You can remove these search fields by right-clicking on them and choosing Remove from toolbar.

The address bar is usually hidden until you open a page inside Opera. If the address field is empty, it will have the text Go to Web address here in it.

Yes you can type regular addresses ( www.) but you can also use the same bar as a search engine. if you type the letter "g" and then your search , and hit enter, it will give you a "google" search for the item you typed in. (only if you put the "g" (space) and then the search item.) if you type a rugular "www." address, then hit the GO button it will go to the page you are typing in.
Hope this helped you.
