On this computer, Netscape 7.1, Win98, part of my address book disappears.

I have sevearl folders, personal, business, etc, and every now and then, the folder doesn't disappear, just everything in it is gone. Nothing.

Any idea what causes this, or how to find it if it's a misdirected pointer somewhere or?

The .mab file is only 28k. And I had maybe 500 or more addresses in it. So either overwritten, or does the .mab file simply point to other sub-files or?

I also have some files, around 200K, with names similar to "impab-6.mab.bak", etc.

Today, while using Netscape 7.1, my personall address book now disappeared. One of my other address books disappeared again last week.
I've tried both of the methods you outlined in link, and didn't get my address book back.
Also, is there any way to import any other .mab file into 7.1 I have other .mab backups, but don't see any way to import them as an option.

I can import Netscape 4.5, Outlook, and text files, but no option for .mab.

If you have a backup of abook.mab, then rename the existing/corrupt abook.mab file to Xabook.mab. Now copy the backup abook.mab file into the salted folder:
[tt]C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\*.slt[/tt]

I;m in the same boat .. it was there and now my Personal Address Book is gone. I think I lost it 9/1 or 9/2. Only the email addresses I sent to in the past two days are visible. HELP
