Go to your Applications directory, look in the Adobe Reader directory (or wherever you placed Adobe Reader), then Reader under that (if applicable), then Browser. There should be some library files (or whatever Macs use for plugins), copy it to the Firefox plugins directory and try now.

There's only one problem with your suggestion. Mac firefox has a dedicated internet plug-in folder that is shared by the browsers. It's at

Code: Select all
Macintosh HD:Library:Internet Plug-Ins

or somesuch.

Just had some speed and performance comparison in following software, Acrobat Reader 5, Adobe Reader 6, Adobe Reader 7, and Preview.

Speedwise, for smaller PDFs, Preview is fastest, then followed by Adobe Reader 7, Acrobat Reader 5, and finally Adobe Reader 6.
For large or complicated PDFs, Adobe Reader 7 is fastest, then followed by Preview, Acrobat Reader 5, and finally Adobe Reader 6.

As for performance, it depends if the PDF file is complicated or if that's encoded in later PDF version. For complicated PDF, Preview displays reasonable well, but not for the print out. Some specified font (typeface) did not print out correctly by Preview.
However, in general, printing from Adobe Reader is a little bit slower than printing from Apple's Preview.

Testing environment: Mac OS X 10.3.7, PowerMac G4 dual 1.42GHz with 2GB RAM. Printer is HP LaserJet 5000N.

printing from Adobe Reader 7 on Mac

Postby soilentgreen » Sun 13 Mar, 2005 7:48 pm

Anyone else had this problem - I can't print from Adobe Reader 7 on my Mac. Reader 6 prints no problem. Ideas?
