I want to go on record that I profoundly dislike the propensity of the developer of naming Advanced anything which is not in the open.
But there is a plus to investigating, what is behind the omnipresent Advanced button. There is some good stuff, and if the button would be named, would eliminate a lot of frustrations.
So, I found the significance of another Advanced button. As you know, when a file which is not embedded comes up, a box showing that a certain application could open it, or one could select to download to the HD.
I have had a problem, since Winamp sort of lost it, and Music Match came up to play mp3 files. Fine, except that Music Match was doing nothing. So, I wanted to change to another player, I could find the path, for one time, and then back to the old way. Until, I pressed the Advanced button, and there was all the information which was entered in Helper Applications. Once I do this, I can play or use my file, and the helper app shows up in the Preferences.
Many of you may have known this, but I sure did not. I am using Jet Audio to play mp3/mpeg files.
I am thinking of working on a Netscape Solutions:Advanced.
