AIM & NETSCAPE WEBMAIL

Postby ADG96 » Sat 13 Dec, 2003 9:34 am

Hello,
I have AIM 5.2 and the default email seems to be netscape webmail.I added my outlook express pop, yet it never informs me that I have mail with OE only with netscape...
Is there a way to get rid of the netscape webmail from showing up in aim..I want to use OE as the one and only default mail..
Thank you...

I don't know if there's a way of doing that. However, the Netscape Webmail can not be accessed by Outlook Express.

I have never heard that it was even possible to do anything with webmail in
AIM. You do need the Netscape version of AIM, in order to set up Webmail in
Netscape. and you have to do it. It is far from automatic.
And, as Antony said there is no way to get Netscape Webmail in OE.
Long ago, I tried it, and I still have an Identity with my webmail username, which I cannot use, nor remove because I can't remember which password I used.

STAND ALONE AIM

Postby ADG96 » Tue 16 Dec, 2003 5:13 pm

Thank you all for replying, however, maybe I did not make myself clear to begin with...I have AIM and I can actually access my OE account from it by setting up the mail box, but it doesnt let me know if I have mail or not, I have to manually click on it (thru the "read mail" icon)...What I was puzzled about was the fact that after I updated AIM and clicked on the read mail I now saw my sn@netscape.net which I dont know how it even got there to begin with..After clicking on that it brought me to the netscape set up screen, etc, etc...What I wanted was to get rid of this entry and just leave me OE account there...
Thanks again...

This appears to be an AIM, which I never had. You must have something in its preferences, or there even be a webpage with the infamous FAQs to help.

I've looked all over (at least I think I have)..including netscape and found no answer to this at all..As far as my prefs go I dont see anything to remove this feature..
