Alert to an .asp Problem

Postby Roy » Thu 13 Nov, 2003 9:19 am

This is an alert for a problem that can happen with the Netscape 7.x browser when attempting to link to a incorrectly coded ".asp".

A Web Page Causing This Problem

Start here: http://www.fcw.com
Select link to: "Who's Who in Government"
then:"Click here" in FEDERAL 100 NOMINATIONS
which links to:
http://www.fcw.com/forms/fed100/2004-fed100.asp

A "Downloading" window will be displayed. When accessed using MSIE. the asp will display an input form.

This Bugzilla Bug Report details the Problem
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152281

and suggests a Partial Fix for the Problem which can only be put in place by the site that creates the problem:
http://www.dwfaq.com/Snippets/snippet_d ... SnipID=360

Another "fix", that lets access the page, is to turn off JavaScript prior to linking to it.
UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.0.2) Gecko/20030208 Netscape/7.02 (CK-DNJ702R1)
