Any way to get, automatically, a new tab which opens in FF?

Postby Fulvio » Thu 03 Aug, 2006 2:48 pm

So far, I have not been able to get Tabs the way I want with various FF and NS8.1.
If I select something, I would expect to open in either another window or tab, which open. It does not seem that I am getting anywhere making changes. There is no sense listing my setting at this time, but I cannot get a separate tab which will open, leaving the others alone.
1.5.0.6 seems to open a window, which I have to close to get back to my original. Bon Echo 2.0b1 has made what appears to me a minor changes, but it places a new tab without opening it. I should be used to this as Netscape8.1 does the same thing, but the first time I hit the same button three times (three identical tabs). This can be seen in Tools|Extentions|Get More Extentions.
I don't expect that anyone else has 2.0b1, but what about 1.5.0.6? Anyway to have it place and open the tab?

I am not sure if I understand you correctly, but do you have following settings on?

If the link is being specified to be opened in a new windows, it will be opened in a new Tab. However, it won't have Netscape 8.1's order (next to current tab or keep current tab focused)

Antony,
my settings are like yours in 1.5.0.6. My question had been: "is there any way to create a new tab, and also open the contents?" The answer seems to be Np. Making rhis selection will open a new window, with all the desired contents, but no new tab. The response is the same if Tab or window are selected. I close the the new window, there is no new tab.
With Bon Echo, 2.0b1, it is more confusing. They seemed to have gone for simplification, and made a mess, in the process. There is only the choice of open new window or new tab. Otherwise, there seems to be a very promising
When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately
. My selections of open new window yielded the same results as in 1.5.0.6, when done in Bon Echo. Selecting to open in a new Tab, places a new tab to the right of the new tabs. Exactly like I wanted. Except that it won't open it.
