I have compuserve ISP and windows XP home. When I click to go on line AOL pops up did I want to use it. I hit the x and it pops up again 2 or 3 times and finally gives up and I go on with my ISP.How to stop this annoying bombardment of AOL stuff every time. I dont have any AOL listed on my programs.

If you've CompuServe or NetScape installed on your machine - you've got AOL in some form or fashion as well. Actually, just by virtue of you running WinXP you've got AOL on your machine because XP ships with free trial for AOL usually.
You'll need to go into WinExplorer, Programs - expand that and I guarantee you'll find a folder for AOL. I would suggest looking first in Add/Remove in Control panel, uninstall there if it shows, then go back into WinExplorer, find that AOL file - press 'delete' and say 'bye-bye' to it. It's a nuisance.

Thanks for the reply. I went to Win Explorer and could not get to any list of programs. How do you do that?

You will have to find a uninstaller some where, Maybe try to install AOL and then remove it and it will get rid of it for you.

My ISP is compuserve.

I noticed this thread, only today, while looking for another topic.
I havew Compuserve, on a trial basis and AOL, trying to lose. I found out that the Preferences in Compuserve have an identical format as AOL's. If you don't want to be bugged by AOL, just uncheck everything, and there will be no popups.
You should not have AOL activated, although thre setup files are probably there, nor have anything to do outside Compuserve to control your problem.
