AOL Screen name question

I heard it was true that you could have your AIM screen name upgraded to AOL status. Is this true? Now i have never been an AOL member (and neither has the AIM screen name), but if I were to sign up I'd want my AIM screen name to be my AOL screen name. Can anyone verify that upgrading is possible.

Based on what I heard, yes it is possible though I'm not an AOL user myself.
