Apple Store, London - Opens 20th November, 10am . . .

Postby DJGM » Sat 21 Aug, 2004 7:15 pm

It is reported on TheRegister.co.uk that Apple will open their London store on 20th November 2004.

That date just so happens to be my 30th birthday, and the day of my next planned daytrip to London!

Apple's first UK store will open its doors on 20th November,
according to a report at IFO AppleStore citing what sounds
like staffers hired by the Mac maker's retail operation.

DJGM, make sure you wake up early that day or get to London a day before.
You know where to get yourself presents.

I aim to be in London the day before, since I intend to also attend MacExpo on the 20th.

(DJGM now looks in a London brochure to find suitable overnight accomodation!)

Every time I go into the Apple store at the local shopping mall, the sales staff doesn't seem too interested in trying to sell me anything.

Guess they're not paid on a commission basis...

I guess you don't look Mac enough, probably you need to change your dress.

I would just wak up to one of the display computers and try out a few things with it. One would expect that after 5 minutes or so, one of the salespeople would come over and ask if I had any questions about it, no one ever does.

I don't think the way I present myself has anything to do with it.

Of course the appearance has lots to do with it.
As long as you don't go to a small town, your look is very important.

Oi! DJGM don't steel all the glory!

I will also be at the grand opening of the London Apple Store.

It's a pity I still don't have a digital camera to take any pictures with!

(BTW...My birthday is on the 30th December - only 3 months to go!)

At least the new Apple Store London will be within very easy travelling distance for you!
I'll be facing a long, boring journey of over 200 miles, from my home city of Manchester!

Since MidlandMainline.com have discontinued their services from Manchester, I'm no
longer able to get a cheap first class weekend ticket to London. I'll have to get a
coach down on Friday 19th November, and arrange overnight accomodation.

Trust me there is nothing good (except for the Apple Store) about living in the city!

There is so much pollution, rubbish everywhere, rats & the prices (of everything, not just houses) are unbelievable.

Well at least it will only take me about 10 minutes to get to Regent Street from where I (currently) live on the stinky old Tube.

From the Register report,
The Register wrote:Finally, rockers Steriogram will perform a live set for store vistors' delectation. So a London store is opened by a band from New Zealand.

That's right, Steriogram is a band from New Zealand. Their debut and top selling song - Walkie Talkie Man is available from iTunes Music Store.

Be the first to discover the most exciting retail experience in Europe. We’ll be giving away free T-shirts to the first 2,500 people through the doors; there’s a digital lifestyle collection worth over £2,000 to be won*; and 300 Lucky Bags with an estimated value of over £700 will be on sale for just £249*.

Steriogram Live - November 21st
Don’t miss Steriogram perform live in an exclusive show that’ll have you dancing down Regent Street.
Paying £249 for £700 seems to be a very good value, but only 300 Lucky Bags... :-(
Since I won't flight to London on that day, I think I'll need to beg my friend to line up at Regent Street for me.

Still waiting for the iTunes Music Store (AU) and the Apple Store Sydney.
