Apple has released Apple TV 4.2 (system software) for Apple TV (2nd generation). New features in Apple TV 4.2 include:

• MLB.TV,
• AirPlay for apps,
• New slide show themes,
• NBA,
• Netflix Dolby Digital 5.1, and
• Improved on-screen keyboard

The Apple TV update is similar to iOS 4.3 update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices, owing to the fact that the firmware is technically a variant of iOS. Apple TV addresses following security issues: FreeType, TIFF files, IPv6 and Wi-Fi.

Apple TV 4.2 is available from Apple TV (2nd generation)'s Update Software menu.

Apple has released Apple TV 4.2.1 (system software) for Apple TV (2nd generation). Apple TV 4.2.1 address a few issues in previous version including address issues that may cause the screen to flicker or display incorrect colour on some older TVs, and wake up and audio issues as well as stability and performance fixes for Apple TV.
