Attacking the edges of secure Internet traffic

Postby James » Fri 30 Jul, 2010 9:36 am

Recently we've been discussing having multiple tabs open while surfing. I'm including a link below the following quote which demonstrates that having many tabs open "can" introduce small weaknesses in our browser's security.

"The vulnerabilities arise out of the fact people can surf the Internet with multiple tabs open in their browsers at the same time, and that unsecured traffic in one tab can affect secure traffic in another tab, said Hansen, chief executive of consulting firm SecTheory. Sokol is a security manager at National Instruments Corp."

I do normally have quite a few tabs open per browser. Whenever I need to access/enter sensitive information (e.g. credit card number), I always make sure that only tab is open (for that browser).
