batteries don't last long in bluetooth mice.

I can't say anything for bluetooth, but RF peripherals seem to have pretty good battery life. Usually I only need to replace the batteries in my RF Dualshock controller two or three times a year.

Infrared is a different story. The batteries in these infrared headphones last somewhere near two weeks. And the unforunate part is that once the batteries start to die, the sound quality becomes unacceptably awful.

The two Energizer Max AA batteries I installed on 17 March 2007 for Wireless Mighty Mouse (Bluetooth and Laser technologies) are now in critically low, and the mouse has lost connection a few times tonight. I replaced them with another two Energizer Max AA batteries since I am too lazy to wait until they are used by completely.

So, two Energizer Max AA batteries give about 1 month lifetime on an Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse.

another pair of Energizer Max AA batteries ran out on 30th May 2007. They were installed on 16th April. Taking the fact that I was moving the house, and the iMac had been in the box for about 1 week and I did not use the wireless mouse that often, the batteries lasted for about 5 weeks.

My Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse keeps giving me the low battery message and finally stops working. The last two Energizer (Max) alkaline batteries lasts a few days more than 4 weeks. (As usual, I don't switch off the laser Bluetooth mouse at night.)

I bought Energizer rechargeable batteries and the charger two week ago, and I will give it a try to see how well the rechargeable work compared to regular alkalines (Energizer Max).
The Energizer rechargeable batteries I have are Energizer Rechargeable's high capacity ones, 2500 mAh. I will post results next time.

Just another update to the battery usage.

Today I have to replace the batteries of Apple Wireless Keyboard (Bluetooth). As mentioned in [sdp=83437]earlier post[/sdp], I last replaced them with Duracell Alkaline Battery (just Duracell's regular alkalines) on 18 March. Those batteries last about 4 and 1/2 months. Similar life time as Energizer e2 (supplied by Apple).

What annoys me today was that my Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse kept losing the connection and showing the low battery message. Instead of using the regular alkaline batteries, I used Energizer rechargeable batteries (highest capacity, 2500 mAh). They last 5 weeks. The performance on Energizer Rechargeable batteries is similar to Energizer Max (alkalines) based on my usage.

Both the keyboard and mouse never switched off at night. I could've switched off keyboard and mouse at night to save power, but I am lazy.

When I was using Apple's Wireless Mighty Mouse, two alkaline batteries would last for about 5-6 weeks.

I changed to Logitech V470 Cordless Laser Mouse Notebooks with Bluetooth Technology on 27 September, and I just have to replace the batteries for the first time today. Two included Duracell Alkaline batteries were replaced today, they lasted for almost two months.

It seems to me that Logitech has a better power saving management built-in.
