Beware of TB update!

I refer to a problem encountered when I let TB10.0.1 update, incrementally, to 10.0.2. The small update could not be applied, for whatever reason. I did not have two copies of TB running. So, I would have had to put up with the notice that the update could not be applied, every time, or uninstall this mess, download 10.0.2 from the website( sorry, I wasted a lot of time. I did not get the link), and install it. I ran it with the same profile, and it is fine.
If you do not let it update, you may save thirty minutes or more.

I downloaded the full version and installed it manually. I have updates disabled for Tbird.

Mine downloaded automatically a couple of days ago. It's 10.0.2. So far everything seems to be working okay but I'll keep my eye on things.

I download all my updates manually, but this time, like the last one, for 10.0.1, I relied on the incremental update. As I had mentioned before, since v.3, I think, the small updates downloaded, I selected to apply them, the program went through the motion, and then informed me that the update could not be applied, and the entire installer had to be downloaded. This behavior did not occur this time. I, never was given the option of downloading and installing the entire installer, until I uninstalled the program. The profile was fine.
I don't know what happens when there is an automatic update, or if I had issues because I was trying to update Seamonkey, Firefox and Thunderbird, pretty much, at the same time. Only Seamonkey informed me that there was an update. Neither Firefox nor Thunderbird did.

I have to admit to something here, Fulvio: I've become complacent about these things (probably not a good thing but what can I say?). Whereas I used to take the time to check out my various programs (at one time I checked Secunia as well as FileHippo), I just grew tired of it and decided to not bother anymore. I mentioned some weeks back that I don't always know what version of a program (i.e. Chrome browser) I have on my computer UNLESS I specifically look for it or it tells me following an automatic update and I happen to notice it. This is what I had to do yesterday when I posted about my own TB version: I looked under About TB otherwise I would not have known.

Most programs today do this automatically and from articles I've read on PC World, this is the wave of the future. Programs and even operating systems are going to do this and in the end... given that most users today are lazy and don't bother updating anything... it's probably for the best.

Anyway... gotta run. Wife is wanting to go shopping.
