when he sees a strange bottle washed up on the shore. He picks
up the bottle, wipes away the seaweed, and pulls out the cork.
A genie appears and says,
"Thank you! I have been trapped inside that bottle for over 1.024
years, and you have freed me. To show you my gratitude, and
as a reward, for releasing me, I hereby grant you one wish."
Bill scratches his head for a moment, then goes to fetch a map.
He points to part of Africa on the map, and says to the genie,
"This is Ethiopia, Millions of people there are dying of starvation.
My wish, is for you to end their suffering, and stop their famine."
"Blimey, that's a tall order!" says the genie, "I can't manage that!"
After a short pause, the genie asks,
"Have you another wish I could grant you?"
Bill scratches his head again for a moment. Finally, he says,
"OK, I run this huge computer software company. It's called Microsoft.
Everyone hates us, and for some strange reason, me in particular, I
think it's because our goal is to control the world's software market.
Can you possibly make everyone like us? That is my wish . . . "
The genie frowns a bit, thinks for a moment, then says,
"Right . . . show me that map again . . . "
