Well, there are quite a few reasons that this could happen. I'll start with the most obvious I can think of.
Since the problem is related to something you installed, try disconnecting the IDE cable to whatever hard drive you're booting from. You might have a bad drive on your hand, perhaps SP2 wrote something that shorted it out or something?
After that, try unplugging whatever you have hooked into the back of your PC one at a time, with the monitor being the last to go (in which case you'd need to listen for the POST beeps). Once you find out what device it was, there's your problem.
You might also have some faulty internal component like a disk drive, RAM, processor, etc... That's an if-all-else-fails thing.
