Ron Delezio ,Sophie's father, is named Father of the Year.

Besides taking care of his twice life threatening injured daughter, he set up the Day of Difference Foundation in 2004 to help other young burnt victims.

From this morning's Sunrise, Sophie Delezio's brain has been breeding.

Sophie Delezio, Sydney's brave 5-year-old girl who survived two car crashes, has been diagnosed with brain injury that affects her ability to learn. She suffered a head injury in the second of her life-threatening accidents, causing brain bleeding that in turn damaged some of her brain.

The brain damage was a permanent handicap on Sophie's attention span and her ability to focus, and it was believed it could impact on her future studies, Mr Delezio said today.

He said the once life-threatening brain bleeding – which was caused by the trauma – would not recur, despite some reports to the contrary.
