Can't Install Communicator

Postby bluetipex » Sat 12 May, 2007 2:09 pm

Hi there

I'm using Thunderbird but wish to switch back to Outlook. Apparently, this can be done via Communicator then Outlook Express then Outlook.

Whenever I try to install Communicator it brings up an error message saying "Cannot install 16 bit application" or something to that effect. I'm on Windows XP.

I'm trying to install Communicator 4.8 (complete install).

(I've tried the transition via Eudora but this doesn't work - it doesn't take the attachments).

(I've also tried the mbox2eml utility, but this didn't work either).

Thank you in advance for your help!

I'm also using Internet Explorer. I just had a thought that I might have to install Netscape itself first??? Is this the case??

Problem Solved

Postby bluetipex » Sat 12 May, 2007 8:07 pm

After a little more research I managed to solve the problem, and I've deleted Thunderbird and am happily using Outlook after having transferred all my emails including attachments.

I used the mbox2eml utility to create eml files, then I dragged and dropped them into Outlook Express. Then I imported these into Oulook from Express!

Job done!
