can't open Links

Postby DiscoFever » Sun 27 Feb, 2005 10:38 pm

when going to Download.com and clicking the links for "View screenshot" in the browsers section, the links will not open. This happens on other sites too. I click on a link and it will not open up. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Press F12

Make sure the radio button is next to Block unwanted pop-ups. If it is not, click Block unwanted pop-ups.

Press F12 again

Make sure Enable JavaScript is enabled (there should be a checkmark next to it, as JavaScript is used for many popups. If there is no checkmark next to it, click Enable JavaScript.

That should do it, please report back with the results.

Problem solved. I had block "all" pop ups. Thanks for your help.

Once again, glad to be of assistance. :)

It's generally best to have it set to Block unwanted pop-ups since it will block all of them, except those that the user specifically requests. There is a technology though, that some web sites use which displays ads on top of the regular web site text inside the same window, in which case, something like that is NOT considered a pop-up since it's in the same window. In any event, those ads are just as annoying as pop-ups.

The instructions outlined in my earlier message, should also apply to all operating system versions of Opera, not just Windows and Linux.
