I have had to use my old computer, with Win98SE, while my XP machine kept breaking down. And, while FF2.0.020 could be used, I found out that many programs could not be upgraded as easily. What do you see for Shockwave Flash, if you type about:plugins in the address bar?

Thank you Fulvio for answering.

What I see in about:plugins is the following:

Nombre del fichero: NPSWF32.dll
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r12

Tipo MIME Descripción Sufijos Activado
application/x-shockwave-flash Adobe Flash movie swf Sí

Oooops... reading down, I found another entry for Shockwave Flash, here it is (maybe that's the problem? I don't know...):

Shockwave Flash

Nombre del fichero: NPSWF32.dll
Shockwave Flash 9.0 r151

Tipo MIME Descripción Sufijos Activado
application/x-shockwave-flash Adobe Flash movie swf Sí

This will confirm what Adobe finds operational on a computer.
The current level is 10,0,22,87, available here.

Slightly off topic: The Adobe site notices that 'critical vulnerability updates' for Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Acrobat 9 are available; downloadable here.

Edit additions:
See also: 'Add or Remove Programs'; click on 'Adobe Flash Player', then on the line: Click here for support information.
Flash files are located in folder C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash.
The company Macromedia was acquired by Adobe two or three years ago, hence the possible ambiguity over company names.

installed version 10.0.12.36 of flash player,
Had one problem with it.
my monitor did not turn off after 15 minutes as set in power options.
when it was deleted and 9.0.124.0 was put back there were no problems.
Do you think Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.22.87 will fix this problem.
Know it seems strange but help would be appreciated.

Is there some reason not to try it?

it tookme 1 hour to install it and then use their removal tool,
then had to find a older version on my computer,
if one can get NPSWF32.DLL and just put it in plug ins it will prob work.
http://dll-repair-tools.com/dll/npswf32 ... sh-plug-in
now can not find a newer version of the dll.

Thanks to the member that sent me the NPSWF32.DLL.
It worked ok in opera portable and firefox portable.
monitor turned off in 15 min.
when installed in firefox 2 it worked but monitor did not turn off.
in opera 9.27 it did not work probably because of Adobe Flash Player Helper 9.0 r124.
if anyone is running firefox 2 please tell what u have related to flash player in plug ins.
Thanks

u have related to flash player in plug ins.
In "plug ins? Where? If you mean in "about:plugins", I have the latest version installed. I have this:
File name: NPSWF32.dll
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r22
. There is no NPSWF32.dll file listed in the Plugins folder of Firefox 3.0.8. I don't have 2.0.0.20, so I am not sure if it needs the file in the Plugins folder.
My Opera 9.5.x has the file in the plugins folder.

HI Fulvio
My ff2 does not have the dll in plug ins.
Opera has them .
Now what can cause monitor problem with the new flash.
Can the new flash have something running in the background.

The older programs need the file in the plugins folder. Firefox can find the file in the program, in this case Macromedia Flash.

HI everyone.
The forum has a new design and looks great.
The monitor still does not turnoff in 15 min
so posted a bug report with adobe.
https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-5216

There is still a bug

Charles Liss
Thanks for your continued patience. Qingyan is running though similar steps that most of us would trying to work though the issue. Without us being able to reproduce your actual issue it difficult to know the exact problem. For this reason we try to match our systems best we can and eliminate what we can from the equation. Hopefully some of the changes we're planning has an impact. We will of course update the bug when something changes.

Just curious, but what does your response have to do with the subject of this two-year-old thread? :?
