cannot find netscape.exe

Postby Bandit600 » Thu 12 Dec, 2002 11:53 am

after I uninstalled NS 6, on certain web sites IE will give me a message 'Windows cannot find netscape.exe' TYPE URL:HTTP !!
This is obviously because .exe aint gonna be there anymore but has anybody got an idea of why this is appearing?
I've read that NS 6 does not uninstall all files & may cause problems with JPEG files etc... Is it anything to do with this?

look forward to hearing from anybody on this matter :D

You are correct that there will be problems with JPEG files, but it is not due to the fact that not all all files are uninstalled. What is left can be used by another later installation. The problem is if you uninstall without unchecking the default which you must have checked in your Preferences/Advanced/System. This was definitely a problem with NS6.0, and there is a removal tool which you can get at http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/ns6newj ... h.html#jpp
