CCK 7.0 *DOES* work with NS 7.2 after all

Postby rtdos » Thu 19 Aug, 2004 3:19 pm

i tried it (see other thread about CCK 7.0 and NS 7.1 that I started) so it looks like there may not be a CCK for 7.2 after all (except for a few cosmetic changes perhaps?) I was able to get the base install for NS 7.2 down to under 4.5 megabytes (browser only meaning no add ons or plug ins)

download here:

http://www.rtdos.com/NS72_Browser_Only.zip

To verify that it works, I put my website as the home page and links to parts of my website in serveral places like help, logo, toolbar, etc.

Comments ?

Hi,
I can not get it to install.
Is there any special steps that I have to do?

sorry, try now. the d/l is now 12 meg because it uses the full install for the conversion (the previous 4.5 size used the base install). i tried it with the base install whcih only includes flash and mcaffee plugins (not sure which others. the 12 meg download size is because now i tried it with the full install which includes java among other things. i wonder how small we can make this ?

apparently when you use CCK with NS 7.2 you can only take stuff out (i.e. create your own base install thats not really customized). so i guess back to the drawing board and wait for sillydog to come out with a small browser only install :D

FYI, I was using your 7.1 program with no problems, until disaster struck when I installed DJGM build.

I am not sure that I understand what you are trying to do, but I think that it would use the Moz GRE.

I guess there is no need to with firefox, huh ? :)

but could you use GRE to *ADD* components to firefox ?

Perhaps. But, I still do not see any valid reason for splitting the program (Netscape or Mozilla) into two parts. To me, it is confusing and useless.
