Basically, anything burned showed in the CD-ROM something which had 0 bytes used or available. To make things more interesting, my CD player had the same indication, i.e. no CD in the drive. But, when I tried to import the songs, let's say from a Winamp burned CD to Rhapsody, I got a nice playlist, which was burned in the same software, but indicated that there was nothing in the drive.
Then, I decide to look at the most recently burned CD, and, sure enough two which I had not played did the same. My CD player acts up at times, so turned it off, and then on. Let's call it rebooted, and, sure enough it recognized the previously not working CDs.
So, they were burned, but my CD-ROM is blind, so to speak. But, very selectively. It is acting up only with recently burned CDs.
Is this crazy enough? Anything to test?
