Columns for Menus Other than "Programs"?

Postby Wolfey » Tue 24 Jun, 2003 8:19 pm

Once again, I'll put down my specifications for my system (out of curiosity, do I really need this every time, or only if it may be relevant to the problem I'm having? Just wondering about this ;)):

Windows Version: 2000 Professional, Service Pack 3
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Processor Type: Pentium IV
OEM: Armstrong Microsystems
Brand: (Doesn't exist)
Computer Type: Desktop

I know that it is possible to list folders/programs/files/etc. within the Start button's "Programs" menu (though Windows considers it a menu, isn't it technically a folder? :P) in multiple columns, rather than having to scroll through a single-column list of those files, and I know how to get that setting to work for Windows 2000 and (with a registry addition) Windows 98...

...But I'm wondering: Is it possible for menus other than "Programs" to have their files listed in multiple columns instead of a single, scrollable one?

For an example, say I added a shortcut to a folder to that list of shortcuts available from the Start button (where Windows Update, New/Open Office Document, etc. are). Clicking on that shortcut will show the files it has in a single, scrollable column, even though my "Programs" folder shows its files in multiple columns. Is it possible to make changes to the folder shortcut I added so that it can list its files in multiple columns as well?

Just wondering about this.
