Combining profiles

Postby stevem » Sat 25 Sep, 2004 6:26 pm

I use Netscape 7.0 and am thinking of moving to Thunderbird or Mozilla for e-mail.

I have two profiles and my wife has one. I'd like to combine my two profiles and leave hers alone. I now realize I can access multiple e-mail addresses from one profile!

How can I do this? I've asked around and got no good advice, and haven't found anything on the web.

I noticed that you're using Windows 2000, in which case you may be able to benefit from Mozilla profile sharing. You can use that to keep your two profiles in sync, and leave your wife's as-is.

Good luck

You could have had a single profile with 7.0, but it is a good idea to move on with something more up to date. The main difference is that you cannot set up Netscape Webmail in either Mozilla or Thunderbird. If you want to have a single profile, and you just want to have two mail accounts into it, just set up the account, and copy the Inbox, and Sent files from one profile and paste it into the other. It will depend on your mail accounts to set up properly. There are some tricks if one account requires authetication. If one of the accounts is IMAP, you don't have yo do any copy/paste, as all mail is on the server.
As for the rest of the files, it depends on whether there was a large difference in one from the other.
I am not sure what operating system you have, so I will not even try. Is NT5.0, Win2k? If so follow Don's suggestions. Anyway the Profiles would be hidden, at C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles
