The Penguin section is focused on "fun", not technical issues (or complicated hacks).

Allow me to repeat, the latest shipping version of Windows Media Player does not support H.264 natively.

No, but VLC and MPlayer do, and they're not "QuickTime 7".

What's the difference between natively and through a plugin? Even your beloved QuickTime requires plugins to view movies encoded with DivX/3ivx/XviD (and other compatibles), Windows Media Audio/Video, and so on, and they play back just the same as if they were supported natively.
