Heavy Computer Use Linked to Glaucoma
I was wondering if they know for sure what affect can computer monitors have on our health.
I would appreciate any feedback on this subject.

Let's see. I've been using a computer for ten years, and I've never had any PC-related vision problems (I do have vision problems, but they're of a different nature). For two years, I used a greyscale LCD, which probably wouldn't have done much, then an old NEC MultiScan 2A CRT for three years, which could possible have wroke havoc with how blurry it was, then from there I just went ahead into LCD world. If anything were to happen, it would've happened during the time I used the NEC, but nothing ever did.

There may be a relationship, but from what I can see it's trivial on LCD monitors.

I was wondering if you know anything about the Digital monitors .
17 inch pcxbv-zw.
Im using it now bought it for 15 dollars used. mfg in dec 1996.
I had tried a couple of new monitors like the samsung 793mb which i returned .made a crackling sound every 5 minutes. tried two. both had the same problem.
Also tried diff brands. Did not like the way text appeared.
Do you know if this digital is safe to use,
When i put a transistor radio near it (1 to 20 inch away the radio makes a noise.

I wasn't aware that DEC made monitors (besides those that went in the VT terminals, maybe).

About transistor radios and CRTs: CRTs emit radio waves. If you've ever heard of Van Eck Phreaking, there are people that are trying to decode those signals and make them into images. Wireless multiple monitors, or lots and lots of privacy issues. If you're paranoid, you can buy a copper mesh net and put it around your mointor, which should keep the waves from getting out.

i was considering it from a health perspective.
Im currently using a standard glare filter with radiadion /static protection
interesting about the cooper mesh and Van Eck Phreaking. ill look it up.
What type of copper mesh net.
It may be more effective then a standard glare filter with radiadion /static protection.

Here's a definition that I found on Google for van Eck Phreaking.

I've heard (and seen) that even copper mesh so thin that it doesn't even look like copper will do to block the waves. I'm guessing your screen blocker/whatever you have won't be doing that, as (usually) they only cover the front of the monitor.

did you ever try putting the copper mesh in front of your monitor and if you did what did the monitor look like.
Did you get a good picture and how did text appear.

I've never tried it, but then again, I haven't had a CRT in years. You could try an image search on Google for "Faraday Cage" and see if you find anything.
