connecting from home (mac) to office (pc)

hi i have a couple of questions and i like to seeif anyone can give me some advice and maybe a tutorial on how to do this

i have my imac and my macbook at home and when i travel i take my laptop.

So here is my conundrum

i like to know how can i connect or set up my mac so it can from home set up my shared folder i can connect my mac to my pc from a home network but i don't know how to dit from my home to my work please if anyone can help me.

My other issue is this if i set up a this network from home to my work and im uploading my files to my mac can my ISP look at my content?

sure i set up an ssh tunnel .

this is my set up

1.mac>wifi>isp>internet
2.pc>router>dsl>isp>internet

The easiest way I can think of doing this is through a virtual private network, or VPN, then have both the PC and the Mac connect to the VPN, and share files normally.

As for whether your ISP can monitor your activity, this depends on the type of link you create. An ssh session is encrypted; therefore activity cannot be distinctly monitored: while your ISP can determine that you are connected to another PC, they cannot actually see what's going on. The same goes for any encrypted VPN such as OpenVPN, which has clients for both Windows and Mac.

You may also be interested in an article I found called Get Back to your Mac without paying for it, which duplicates the functionality of MobileMe's "Back to my Mac" service using some free tools. Unlike the MobileMe version, this one also works from a PC.

Firstly, you will need to make sure there are certain ports opened for connection (on both ISPs and routers/modems).

As for connecting to your Mac (from another Mac), the easiest way is of course using the built-in Back To My Mac feature in Mac OS X 10.5. (A MobileMe subscription is required.)

I haven't remotely connecting to a PC for ages.
