it's 50th Anniversary. Affectionately referred to by fans as "Corrie", the series first started
on ITV on the 9th December 1960. The character Ken Barlow, was in the very first episode
and is still a major character, and still played by the same actor, William Roache.
The makers of the show decided to mark the event in an ever so dramatic way you wouldn't
expect in most soaps. I won't go into detail, but it was quite spectactular. I've uploaded a
videoclip of the last 3mins 10secs of Monday night's second episode, taken from it's first
showing on the UK's main commercial TV channel ITV1.
