Dead laptop display issues

Postby Pu7o » Tue 28 Oct, 2008 4:50 am

So, my laptop's display just randomly died out of nowhere, and its use is kinda necessary for me at the university at this time. I can send it to the warranty, but LG are kinda slow, and it'd mean being without my laptop for a relatively large period of time, which I'd like to avoid. With that said, does anyone know anything simple I can try to possibly fix it myself before sending it to the warranty (preferably without having to open it, as it'd void the warranty and I don't have any experience with opening laptops anyway)?

My laptop is an LG F1 Pro Express Dual, and the when the display is turned on, it is blank, though if I leave it on for a minute or so it starts displaying gray, with a red tint on the center and weird lines.

EDIT: Also, if left alone for a relatively large period of time, it turns into a multicolored mess of straight vertical lines

Have you tried to increase the brightness setting of the display?

Does it display anything at all? Is the computer still running. Are you able to connect to an external monitor?

Have you tried the basics:
Hard reboot? Or even disconnect the power source and take the battery out for a few minutes then put the battery back as well as plugging in to the wall?
