Deleting names from Address Book in Netscape 7

Postby zimzam » Wed 06 Nov, 2002 8:07 pm

When I click on Compose, then on Address Book, I see a block labeled Remove but it is not active. Does anyone know how to remove names from the Address Book?

In addition when I click on Window, then Address Book in the drop-down menu, the Address Book window appears but it is totally empty. Why do I see my address book when I click Compose, Address Book but am unable to see it when I click Window, Address Book??? What am I missing?

Go to address, (Ctrl + 5)

On the left panel labelled Address Book, select "Personal Address Book".
On the (upper) right panel, select the name (single click it), then click "Remove" from toolbar.

Please note there is another type of address book, which is automatically collected by Netscape... (check your Preference)

Hi zimzam,

Once you open Address Book, then double click on an entry in the left pane. This will move that address to the right pane. Highlight the address in the right pane. The "Remove" tab will then be active.

Another way to delete an address is to open Address Book by clicking on the icon in the lower left hand task bar, or the "Window" Tab. Highlight the address, then click on the "Delete" Button in the Address Book Toolbar.

As to your second question, could it be that in the left hand pane of the Address Book, that "Collected Addresses" is highlighted, and not "Personal Address Book? Otherwise, that is strange indeed, and certainly a new twist in Netscape 7.0.

I want to go over what you said above. If you click Compose/Address you will see the list of addresses, and if you find what you want, you select to: or whatever. The remove will be active after you select the address, in case you change your mind. The Cntrl+5 is for address management. You will see at the left a Personal and a Collected address book. Nothing goes into the Personal book, unless you put it there. You should see a bunch of addresses in the Collected Address book, and I just weeded out some unneeded or duplicate address. You can highlight an address, and then select Compose, accomplishing the same as you described above. This is the first time I saw this way. Two way to do unspeakable thing to some unfortunate animal ( but why?).
