Dell beats Apple in thin monitors

Postby Antony » Mon 29 Aug, 2011 10:24 am

Dell, a popular brand that many people used for price reference, has introduced a new range of ultra-slim standalone monitors, S2230MX (21.5-inch) and S2330MX (23-inch). Both are LED displays and support 1080p (1920x1080 pixels), and contrast ratio of 8,000,000:1 (dynamic) and just 2ms response time. And it is only 3.96 kg for 21.5-inch model and 3.76 kg for 23-inch model.

The thinnest part is less than 1 cm at just 9.9 mm (which is 0.38 inches in American unit).

The viewing angles are 160° vertical and 170° horizontal, which is slightly lower than popular 178° horizontal and 178° vertical on desktop monitors. The monitor supports VGA and DVI-D (HDCP) inputs.

I like these. Just wish they weren't so expensive.

To be honest, I found those two Dell monitors pretty cheap. Well, much cheaper than Apple's for sure.

I prefer the price of FREE for my monitors. Hence why I use CRTs still.

They're using low end TN panels, so you'd expect the price to be substantially lower. All of the Apple displays, AFAIK, use IPS panels so you get far better colour reproduction, viewing angles etc.
