Disk Utility problem on OS X 10.3.9 with iTunes 6.0.2

Postby trevor2005 » Sun 29 Jan, 2006 5:49 am

Hello

Yes it worked for me too, I removed the iTunes receipt and the program itself and was able to run Disk Utility without problems, so thank you.

However, was trying to find iTunes pre6.0.02 version but downloaded the latest one from Apple site and guess what version 6.0.2 so if the same thing happens again I will just delete and re-install again.

Do you know if Apple are doing anything about this problem?

hello Trevor,
Try :dl: this FTP link (iTunes 6.0)

According to Apple Discussion, this issue has been reported to Apple, and as usual, when there's a fix, Apple will release it.

Disk Utility problem

Hello.

I tried the FTP link you suggested but it appears to get stuck while loading (Setting Passive Mode?) Any chance you could just send me the file?

cheers, Jan

Which version of ITunes can I now install. I went through this also now I've installed ITunes 4.7.1. But I miss the podcasts. Can I install ITunes 6.0 or 6.0.1 with out this issue?

The file is 14MB, and I have no problem downloading it (with two locations).

Are you able to download any files via FTP connection?

Eriel,
According to Apple Discussions, iTunes 6.0 or 6.0.1 are fine with Mac OS X 10.3.9.
You can try :dl: this FTP link for iTunes 6.0.

[sdt=10869]iTunes 6.0.3[/sdt] is now available, however, I do not know if iTunes 6.0.3 addressed this issue.

There are mixed reports that iTunes 6.0.3 and the Disk Utility issue on OS X 10.3.9.

Some mentioned that the problem still exist, and some said it's fixed by simply trash all [tt]iTunes.pkg[/tt] files EXCEPT for [tt]iTunesX.pkg[/tt] and [tt]iTunesPhoneDriver.pkg[/tt]. (Leav all other [tt].pkg[/tt] files.)

The work around for running iTunes 6.0.2 (or 6.0.3) on OS X 10.3.9 and preventing Disk Utility has "Lost Connection" with Disk Management tool issue:

  1. Move iTunes onto the Desktop.
  2. Run Disk Utility
  3. Go to HD>Library>Receipts and trash all [tt]iTunes .pkg[/tt] files EXCEPT for [tt]iTunesX.pkg[/tt] and [tt]iTunesPhoneDriver.pkg[/tt]
  4. empty Trash.
  5. move iTune from Desktop back to 'Applications'.
