Do you use BBCode in your post?

Postby Antony » Mon 09 Aug, 2004 12:13 am

Hello all,
Just a quick survey to address the current problem with BBCode quick control bar and emoticons.

For some unknown reason, they are not functioning. However you are still able to make posts with BBCode by typing them by yourself.

I'd like to know how important is this feature.

Poll for 14 days.

Not at this moment. Unless someone abuse it.

However, the BBCode quick control bar may be removed, OR may be improved.

I am working on that.

As of now, I'm typing them in by hand but trying to learn them from the Control bar. If you click one and look at the status bar text, it will give you the appropriate tag name. The only problem I have then is getting the form of them correct, but that's another story.
More than anything else, I find the monospaced (tt) code very handy for specifying file locations, etc...

As for the bar getting fixed, I can't see any problem in the bar's code under View Source. You may want to run the code to the bar through the HTML validator at http://www.w3.org and see if it has any severe error in it, that might prevent it from working.

I chose "Yes, and I learned the code, can type them by myself," because I already know most of the codes, and for the ones I dont know, I will use the BBCode Guide to look them up.

I voted for "Yes, and I learned the code, can type them by myself" because I'd had experince with phpBB for about 2 years now

Antony:
I didn't notice the BBCode quick control bar since you fixed
the site.

You should have asked if you sometimes use the quick bar and/or
write your own code from memory.

It would be good to use both depending if it works or not like tonight
I have to type it in myself, lol

We don't use the same BBCode as indicated in that link.

Please see SillyDog701 BBCode Guide.

I like the BBCode bar, although I can ceratinly code well by hand.

I am experimenting with setting up NotesPad to, with two mouse clicks, to write down both parts of a BBCode. For example, I get
Code: Select all
[url=][/url]
with two mouse clicks. Perhaps people would like this feature on a quick control bar?

BBCode quick control bar and smilies should be working now :)

Actually, besides clicking the button, you can use the access key.
For example,
access key for bold typeface is [tt]b[/tt],
access key for italic text is [tt]i[/tt],
access key for image is [tt]p[/tt],
access key for link (url) is [tt]w[/tt],
...
(no access keys for Monospaced Text (teletype) yet)

For Mac :mac:, press [tt]control[/tt] + access key to use them.
For Windows, press [tt]alt[/tt] + access key to use them.

To find out the access keys (move mouse around the bottons of BBCode quick control bar.
