Drag and Drop for Link to Mail

Postby humpd » Wed 25 Dec, 2002 11:24 am

Is there a way to use the drag and drop from the address bar to create a link in NS mail in NS 7.01? When I try to do that, as soon as I click on the address bar, the mail diminishes. I have been copying and pasting the address for a link in email. I assume this is the best way to create a link.

I noticed it too, but there is another way which involves less work (for me at least). Context(right-)-click the tem, and select Copy, and find location to place it, and Paste.

Can't you use the "Insert" from the top drop down menus ?

Also located mid-page next to the emoticons selection?

Never tried it, but on looking at it, it seem to be more trouble that it is worth, since I would have to know the URL, or copy and paste it, making one extra step. I think that my way is more direct.

Both methods work equally well.

Insert method allows you to assign descriptive text to the link.

Basically, what I am hearing here is that, unlike the NS 4.x mail, NS 7.x does not allow a drag and drop method when in email. What I have been doing is right clicking on the address BEFORE CALLING UP MAIL, copying it, calling up mail and clicking on the compose button, and then pasting it in the email message. I liked the method of dragging and dropping an address used in NS 4.x much better than the method NS 7 uses but I guess that the fact that the mail in NS 7 is a separate mail client and not part of the browser prevented NS from incorporating this into their new browser. Thanks for the ideas anyway.

I don't think that the Mail client is any more separate in NS7 than in 4.x. I feel that it is another case which was not considered by the developers in their infinite (lack of) wisdom. I may be wrong, though.
