Postby Ron Williams » Wed 29 Sep, 2004 10:02 pm

I would suggest you check the Tutorial in their Help menu first.

After trying to use the help from the start screen I could not figure out how to use it. I thought I knew how to upload a site but I do not.

Buy a book!!!!!

Seriuosly Ronnie............... I made the switch from Frontpage to Dreamweaver about 5 years ago and have never looked back and will never use Frontpage again!!! I hate the way it did things and in one version just clicking on the background caused the program to Crash.

Dreamweaver is exactly what it says.. and a dream to use once you get the basic hang of things.............. it does help enormously if you can write and understand html though. Don't be put off by this as html is easy to learn. I learnt from a book called html in a weekend. SAMS Publishing also do great books on this and also great books on introductory web design using dreamweaver (Site transfer/ftp uploads etc are all generally covered in there........). The best advice I can give you short of taking a course is to visit your nearest computer bookstore and pick up a book or two and figure from there which will be the best one for your needs........

I am a Web Designer and am entirely self thaught..............and reckon if I can do it then anyone can................

Good Luck!!!!

For FTP transfer to your Service Provider (Site Host) Download a free program called Filezilla fom here: http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/

Then set up your website with

web adress www.yoursite.com
user name/password

Log in type: Normal
use passive FTP

If you still have questions contact your ISP and I'm sure they can help / or browse their help files online
