Ebay troubles...

Postby 900t » Wed 14 Jul, 2004 2:04 pm

I routinely browse the Parts Cars section of EBayMotors,
http://motors.listings.ebay.com/Car-Truck_Parts-Cars

I have been seeing problems with Mozilla/Netscape a lot here:
1. The three tabs never render properly.
2. (Mozilla 1.7/1.8a) Page sometimes stops loading midway.
3. (Mozilla 1.7) Page loads 1/2way and reloads, in a constant loop.
4. (NS 7.1) When clicking on an image, when in a listing, the page reloads, then needs to be clicked again to get the image.

????

Seems ok with Firefox 0.92.

As a long time ebay user, I can tell you that they tend to optimize for IE. Non-IE compatibility issues seems to come & go in waves. They will usually fix these eventually, but it tends to take them awhile.

I've only found one site that won't render correctly with Firefox. It's a cascading menu issue. The designer is aware of it, but hasn't made it a priority.

The page seems works for me using Mozilla 1.7 under Windows XP, although, of course, I can not be sure the rendering is correct.

Have you tried clearing out your browser cache and reloading?

The site works fine for me, no infinite loops anyway --- I'm running Firefox 0.9.1 on X11. The lines on the tabs don't appear to line up perfectly, but I can live with that. I wouldn't have thought anything of it unless you had mentioned it.

From memory, Windows is a 32-bit hack on a 16-bit GUI, written for an 8-bit OS that originally ran on a PC with a 4-bit system bus, made by a 2-bit company that can't stand 1 bit of competition.

Windows: Stop complaining about it; stop using it.
