email problem and question 4.73

Postby oldguynm » Wed 25 Sep, 2002 9:46 pm

I am using communicator 4.73 with mail program. today i pulled some messages into a folder and i watched them disappear. The folder still says that there are 131 messages in it but i cannot see them. I can see the messages in all my other folders and the mail program is working. I am at a lost as to why these messages are not viewable. Any help would be appreciated

You pulled the messages, but how, and where? In order to see the messages you should have for each Inbox file, a corresponding Inbox.snm or summary file. You can create a folder in your Mail folder of your user profile, with a different name from your normal Inbox. I have one folder where I keep messages that I do not want to delete, and I called the folder Inboxold, and there should be a corresponding Inboxold.snm. Go to Windows Explorer, after exiting Netscape, and into the Mail folder, and delete only the .snm file. If something happened to it, it will be rebuilt. Then, open Netscape mail, and see if anything has changes. Do not delete the file without extention.
